Brandylane Publishing Announces Second Printing Of “american Hero: John Marshall”

July 30, 2014

John Marshall Front CoverAmerican Hero: John Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States, a children’s book written by David Bruce Smith and illustrated by Clarice Smith, will have a second printing in the fall of 2014.

The book tells the story of the Founding Father history almost forgot. The biography walks the reader through Marshall’s whole life; from his childhood in Virginia to a family man, then soldier for the Revolutionary Army. Soon after the war he became a lawyer, congressman, Secretary of State and then ultimately Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Clarice Smith’s graphite and watercolor illustrations bring the historic figure back to life.

The book was commissioned by the John Marshall Foundation in Richmond, Va as part of the Justice in the Classroom Program, designed to raise the awareness and appreciation of the Chief Justice. Intended for elementary school-aged children, it was published by Belle Isle Books, an imprint of Brandylane Publishers, in March 2013.
